Parties are Over

What a wonderful Christmas weekend we had. First, Santa came and left us some wonderful gifts. In the afternoon we had my side of the family come for dinner and gifts. Here's a pic of my parents, and two sisters. We had a great time!

Then yesterday we went to John's side of the family for a Christmas party. Wonderful food and yankee swap! It was fun.

But now it's back to regularly scheduled programming. John has this week off so he's been doing alot of little things around the house. Both kids have been working alot of hours (something about buying a car??) and I'm working a few days.

Happy New Year!

Stockings are Hung

Our stockings are hung and are waiting for Santa to fill them! I hope he can find them up so high. We had to put them up high because of our dog, Mylo, who likes to chew everything in site. We have even had to move some of the ornaments on the tree.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

Snow is on its Way!

Snow is on its way and they are predicting a foot of it! Yikes! We are suppose to have my husbands side of the families Christmas Party tomorrow afternoon. Lets hope we can still have it!

I think I have all the shopping done and most of it wrapped. Now, lets' hope I remembered where I hid it all. Even with two teens, I still have a snooper!

John is off for two weeks with his companies shut down and a few days vacation so he hopes to get some "chores" done. I"m definately going to start the honey-to-do list for him on Monday. I would hate to hear him say his was "bored"!

Jared is home from his first semester of college. He'll be home for about a month and we are very happy. Kay is working alot of Old Navy this week so that keeps her busy.

Merry Christmas!

Advent Swap Goodies

Here are my Advent Swap Goodies that I got from my swap partner, Kit from Diva Quilts. I got the goodies last week and the whole idea behind it is that I'm suppose to open one gift everyday from Dec 1 - 25th! Ya, right! Me wait to open gifts..I don't think so! So I tore into that box like a little kids. What goodies I got. A few items aren't in the pic...a scrapbooking magazine which is on my nightstand, and a grocery sack holder.

Thank you, Kit, for my goodies!

Decorations around the house!

Here's a few pics of some of the decorations around the house. I'm slowly getting things up before Christmas Day when my family comes! Hope everyone is having a super day!

Santa Clause wallhanging from Debbie Mumm book. I made this a couple of years ago and love him.

Here's my Martha Stewart tree in the bathroom! It goes perfect with the blue walls!

Here's a pic of our tree in the Family Room. We had to move some ornaments higher because Mr. Mylo decided he wanted to see what they tasted like! We came home to do handmade ornaments in little pieces all over the floor!

It snowed Saturday night and it was the first time Mylo saw snow! He loves it as you can see! John was out throwing the ball around and he had alot of fun!

Back to the grind!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at Sharon's house. Here's a pic of everyone!

Here's a pic of Jared and my Dad. He needed a pic of the two of them for a project he is working on at school. Jared went back to school yesterday, but he'll be back for the Christmas Break and stay for a month! Yipeee.

I haven't started any Christmas shopping yet. I need to take one day and get it all done! It will be here before you know it!

Hope everyone is having a super day!

Happy Thanksgiving

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is two days away! Time sure does fly by when your having fun. We'll be heading to my sister,Sharons, house for Turkey and fixings. Hopefully a game of Pictionary or two while we are there.

Jared is home for his Thanksgiving break from College! Yipee... It's been three weeks since he has been home. It'll be nice having him around. It sure was strange when he first left and we only had to set the table for three instead of four! That was hard! But we are learning even though he is not here in the house, he certainly is in our hearts every day! My mother always says "kids were born with wings"! Sure is true!

Our hope that your Thanksgiving Day brings family and friends together with good food, cheer and yes, lots of desserts!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I finally started some Christmas shopping. I'm very behind..good thing its not next week. Can't believe that Thanksgiving is next week. Time sure does fly as we get older.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Been Busy!

I've been very busy the past week with my new job! I'm working at a nursing home as an Activities Asst! It sure is tiring and keeps me on my feet all day but the rewards are awesome! To see one of the patients win at Bingo, have coffee with them in the morning and simply talk about nothing sure makes their day and mine.

I entered a swap about a month ago where I had to send my swap partner things that began with the letter "L" and she had to send things to me with the same alphabet. I got my goodies today from Sara! It was fun getting things in the mail. I'll take a photo this weekend so you can see what she sent me!
Thanks Sara...the goodies were awesome! How did you know I love to read?

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Another Rainy Day!

It's raining here again! Seems like it rains here alot lately. I've been some sewing for my Advent Swap partner. So I can't show you any goodies. Here's a pic of the Patriots in the snow in the middle of October! John and Jared went and froze their noses off! They had fun thought!

Here's a pic of Kay and Mylo. I guess Mylo wanted to help Kay to her homework! He has been doing some reading lately. Yes, he chewed another paperwork book from the library. That's #2! So, I've learned not to leave anything in the living room because Mylo will want to read it!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Wishing I Was Here!

This is the pool at the Caribbean Beach Resort in Florida. John and I went for a few days last October without our kids. First time going away without them. We had a great time but sure did miss them. I wish I was sitting next the pool having a drink with an umbrella in it!

Have a great day everyone!

Beautiful Day!

It's a beautiful day here in New England. High 60's, low 70's with no snow in sight! After this past weekend we need a day like today.

Today I went to my elderly couples house and cleaned and had tea/cookies with them. It's such a joy to sit and hear about their lives. They have been married for 62 years! WOW. I asked Oscar what the secret is and he answered "patience". Oscar has Parkinsons Disease but his hearing and mind are sharp as a tack! Irene is a hoot..always talking about the good ol' days.

I hope to finish making some goodies today for Leeanne's Open House the first weekend in November. I'm making wallets, keychains, small totes. Keeps me out of trouble.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Rainy Day

Today its raining and very chilly out! Kaylee and I are hanging out today and watching a few movies. The boys have gone to the Patriots game! They were both very excited when they left this morning. Its a 4pm game, but they leave so they can tailgate with everyone and cook before the game starts! Boys having fun! LOL

I hope to finish up some of my swaps I've signed up for! It's been alot of fun!

Hope everyone is having a great day and keeping warm.

It's Snowing

Yes, it's snowing here this morning! It's October and the white stuff is flowing downwards! How can that be? Living in New England you never know what the weather is going to be like. Here's a pic of the goodies I've been sewing! Yes, Christmas Stockings! What fun! I made them from scraps that I had around. Just need to fill them with some goodies and someone will be very happy!
I signed up for two swaps recently online. One is an Alphabet Swap. I have to send my swap partner anything that begins with the letter "L". Oh, gosh. It's been fun trying to find things.

The other swap is an Advent Christmas Swap. I have to send my partner 25 items and she will open one everyday starting Dec 1st and ending on Christmas Day. Isn't that wonderful! Getting little things before Santa comes! Yahoo.

I'm off to do more sewing and maybe make an apple pie! Have a great day!

Columbus Weekend at Normandy Farms

We went camping this past long weekend with my sister Sharon and her gang. We had great weather..little chilly but overall great time. We went apple picking, ate dough boys by the fire and Dad, Mom and Hazel came for dinner on Sunday. One family had about 10 pumpkins carved out!
The gang having dinner on Sunday. Jared came home on Sunday and spend two nites with us. It was wonderful having him home. It's strange not having him home everyday now.

Here's Kay and Travis when we were apple picking. Oops..Kay - open your eyes!

Like Father - Like Son. Here's my brother-in-law, Shawn and my nephew, Gavin fishing at the pond. No fish were biting..just pondweed! LOL

Here we are apple picking. We just wanted to walk around with Sharon and gang, but the lady at the farm stand we can't do that. We have to buy a bag and apple pick! We couldn't walk around with them? As you can see..I'm still a little upset by it! We did have fun tho. Apple crisp anyone?
Happy Fall

Fall Decorations

I finally got some Fall decorations out around the house. I put my scarecrow on the shelf in the kitchen. My little sweater - I usually have this on my Christmas tree, but I put that away last year.
Another mini wallhanging, pattern by Debbie Mumm, hanging in the Family Room.

It's certainly Fall here in New England. Leaves are turning and its cold in the morning! Brrr!
Happy Day Everyone!

Helping Hand

Over on Kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com she writes about a fellow quilter blogger whose husband had a work accident and had to have his leg amputed. Her name is Terry and you can find her at terrytreasures.blogspot.com.

Terry's friend, Laurie (ayankeequilter.blogspot.com) is asking fellow quilters to make a 9.5" block to send to her and she's going to make a quilt for Terry and her husband. What a great idea and you know the quilt gang will certainly step up to the plate.

So if you want to join, head over to Laurie's blog and get the info!

Have a great day everyone!

The Lion

This is my nephew, Gavin, who is 2 yrs old. I went yesterday and spent the day with him and Mommy and she wanted to get him in this Lion costume. Well, at first, it didn't go so well. I had to sit in on my lap and she quickly put it on. Once on..he was in the "lion" mode and pretending to make lion noises! He loved it! I wonder if he'll put in on for Halloween! Have a great day!

Been Busy!

It's been awhile since I've posted. Been busy doing things around here. I've made more purses for Christmas gifts - (can't show pics..people will be peeking)!, and some tote bags.

Carol, Nina and myself went to Mohegan Sun (casino) yesterday for a day of fun! Both of them hadn't been to the casino before so it was an eye-opening experience for them. We came home with money in our pockets, but did leave a few dollars at the casino!

Jared didn't come home this weekend from college. It was homecoming weekend so he stayed to join in the festitivies. John and Kaylee went and saw him yesterday to watch the college football game with him. He loves college life so far!

Well, I should get some chores done and I have another purse on my sewing machine that I should finish sewing. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Postcard Swap

Here are my postcards I received from the postcard swap! Aren't they awesome! This one is from Care from Utah! How fun is the measuring tape! This one is from Marilyn, also from Utah! I've never made them before and it was alot of fun! Thank you both for the goodies!
Yesterday, I found a new quilt shop in Townsend called Cobblestone Quilts! Oh, Gosh! I couldn't decide what to get. I could have gotten one of everything. So I came away with these goodies. Hmm...I wonder what I"ll make!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Sewing & Things

Alot has been happening around here. First, I found this pattern on Madebyrae blog and loved them. Small purses that are perfect for running to do errands, etc. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas! Love the pear fabric. These are the blocks are received from the Christmas Swap Block hosted by ModernJax. What fun! I received six blocks in total. So I'll make a few then probably do a small wallhanging or a table runner for the holidays.
Then I made a few American Girl Doll dresses for my niece, Addison. She loves dressing up her doll.

Yesterday, Mylo went for his "operation"! He doesn't look happy in his cone. He'll have to wear that for a week until he has his stitches removed.

Hope everyone has a super day!

Men in my Life

Jared has been gone to college now two weeks. He's coming home this weekend because he has to work on Saturday at Dicks. Can't wait to see him. I told him I would make his favorites for dinner. The food at college isn't that good and his stomach hasn't been agreeing with it.

The other guy, John, is very sick with a cold. He never gets sick so he came home early to sleep. He wants to get better for the weekend. While he is was sleeping and Kay was at school I made some very beleted birthday presents for my sister Bren and her daugther, Jessica. I would show you pics, but I have this feeling Bren would peek! I'll have to wait until next week!
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Quiet Weekend

This is my nephew, Gavin, who turned two! Here's apic from his birthday day. Sorry its so blurry. He's looking at a new puzzle he got from Grammie Lee! This guy stayed at college for the weekend as he doesn't have the holiday off. He's been busy doing homework and playing x-box with roommates. I'm sure his gone to a few parties too! He can't believe how nice everyone is and everybody gets along! He'll be home next weekend as he'll work on Saturday!
So we are just hanging this weekend. I've sewed some tote bags and wallets. I"m trying to make a purse now for Kay. Kay decided not to continue playing field hockey. I think it was a hard decision for her, but one that she needed to make. This family isn't into adults hurting children or playing head games and field hockey was certainly doing that to her. She's much happier and starting to relax a little more everyday! We are so proud of her making this decision. Life is too short to be around negative people or people who truly don't bring you happiness! You go Kaylee!
Hope everyone is having a super weekend!

Christmas Block Swap

Presents in the mail! Yahoo! I joined a Christmas Block Swap and these two blocks are from Amy! Love them! Can't wait to get the others. These are two projects I've been working on this week. Made a small tote bag with a matching key ring! Cute! The other one is a larger tote bag in Amish colors. I might send that one to my Amish penpal/friend in Ohio!
And this is Mylo! He was just outside running and came in pooped! I think he misses the kids being around. He loves to read any magazine/newspaper that we leave on the coffee table! Or should I say chew! Oh, well..we love him anyways!

Have a great day!

College Move in Day

Yesterday was move in day for Jared. In the pouring rain no less! Here's a few pics to share. He's only an hour away, but that seems really far when he has been here everday for the past 19 years. Dinner will be strange without him.
But, its a great time in his life. Meeting new people from around the USA. It'll be a great experience for him. Here's the suitcase filled with sugar! Jared and his room! The green agfhan on his bed is a gift from Grammie Lee...he had to
have near him. I think it reminds him of home!
Jared trying to figure out where to put things.

Talking with the RA whose room is next door! His roommate, Will, is in the red coat.

So its just John, Kaylee, Mylo (the pup) and I. Kay will be going off in another two years. Time sure does fly by!
Hope everyone is having a great day. I'm off to do some sewing then Gavin's birthday party this afternoon.

Happy Birthday

Jared turns 19 yrs old today! WOW! Where did the time go? I can remember the day we brought him home..his first day of school (which is cried awful), his first day at Lunenburg Primary when he entered fourth grade, the day he went to high school and the day he graduated from high school. Now he's off to college..time sure does fly by.
It'll seem strange now seeing him every morning and having dinner with him every night, but this is ok. We gave him wings and he's off to start making his own life.
We wish you lots of love and blessings, Jared! We know you'll do just fine!
XOXO

Sewing Projects

Friends of ours bought this camper and its now been named the "Patriot Mobile". This is Jared standing in front of it. So of course, they have to have Patriot curtains! This is the pile of fabric that has been cut out and waiting to be sewed.
This is my Christmas Block that I made as part of the Swap. I hope to make a few more and make a tree skirt with the others!

This two bags are gifts I made for some friends. One of the girls loves going to the beach so I thought the flip flop fabric was perfect! They will be surprised for sure!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Little this/Little that

I went to Mendon today so my Mom could help me cut out and sew some curtains for our friends motorhome. It's called the Patriot Mobile so, of course, the curtains are all in Patriots fabrics. What a fun project!
Then my sister, Sharon, came over to have dinner and birthday cake for Jared's birthday on Wed (19 yrs) and Gavin (2 yrs) whose birthday is tomorrow. My niece, Jessica, birthday is Tuesday. She'll be 16! Busy month for birthdays.
Then tomorrow Jared and I go finish up some shopping for college. He moves in this coming Saturday. Not sure if we are mentally ready or not, but I"m sure we'll be able to handle it. He's only going to be about an hour away and is about a mile from my cousin Faye. I just hope he remembers that he has to actually open the book to read it! LOL
Then the rest of the week is busy getting Jared ready and then field hockey tryouts for Kaylee. This will be her fourth year playing and loves it!

Well, I'm off to finish up a sewing project. I sent out my Christmas Blocks on Friday so everyone should be seeing those this week. Can't wait to see my goodies. I love being in the swaps..there are alot of very talented and giving people out there. Have a great week!

Quilts for Ronald McDonald House

My girlfriend, Peggy and I have decided to make some quilts for the Ronald McDonald House where Peggy stayed for 9 weeks while her daughter Lindsay recovered from her injuries sustained in a boating accident. Here's a pic of some hats that my Mom and I have knitted to donate to the RMH. Here's a quilt top that I finished to go.
This quilt was donated by a classmate of mine, Teena Lee, who heard what happened and made this one and the one below it! Thank you, Teena! Some child is going to love having Eeyore wrapped around them.

This is a just a sampling of the quilts we have done! We are hoping to make at least 20 baby size quilts to donate! A big thank you to everyone who has donated fabric. We really appreciated it!
